Missionary Work

Sam's email this week:

"Dear Family,

I am glad to hear that everyone back home is doing well. It sounds like joey is a great ball player. I hope he decides to play again next year. And i hope that jenny decides to get her license soon so that spot doesn't go to waste.Did she get a good spot.

As for me my week has been pretty good. We found this crazy guy named RF. We were walking down street and a young guy called us over. He wasn't wearing shoes and was all dirty. We walked over to him and i could already smell a strong scent of alcohol. He started to ask us who we were, but in the middle of his question he saw some girls. He said some things about these girls that i will not say because i do not wish for my mother to hear them. Immediately i said to elder Ewudzie "this guy is not serious...he is drunk...lets go" Elder Ewudzie agreed and we started to walk away. He got up and started saying " no stay i need to hear the word of god!" Now usually i would never continue talking to someone this drunk, but for some reason both my companion and i decided to stop. He said "let me just show you my house." So kind of suspicious, we agreed and followed him to his house. We were both surprised when we arrived at his home because it was a very nice place. As missionary's we almost never get into a home this nice, but despite how nice the house was we still had to leave because he was so drunk he couldn't talk straight. So we took his number and promised him we would come back another day. A couple days later we both had a feeling that we should go see him so we did. When we saw him he was completely sober and was actually a pretty nice guy. He apologized for being so drunk the first time we met. We taught him about the word of wisdom and it was an awesome lesson. He promised us he would stop drinking if we helped him. So another couple of days went by and we came back and taught him about the Plan of salvation, he asked us if he could be baptized. We of course looked at each other and said absolutely. He said he would come to church and we planned with him to come and pick him up and walk with him to church. When Sunday rolled around we were walking to his house, he called us on our phone and said " i am sorry i cant come today please forgive me" and then hung up. We tried to call him back, but he wouldn't answer. So we are planning to go and see him Tuesday and see what the matter was. I am sad he didn't come, but i am not gonna give up yet.

Besides that not much happened this week. Transfers are coming up on Wednesday, i think president is gonna keep me a Jr for one more. Thank you again for emailing me. I hope you have a great week. I love you all so much.

Love Elder Beck

P.S. mom you should go to the Dr and get your stomach fixed up.
